A violinist Regina Park born in US, began her violin education through Suzuki training at the age of 6 in South Korea, and made her debut in the Kyunggi-do Violin Competition as the second prize winner at the age of 10. This promising start has been refined and enhanced upon her move back to the United States in 2000 to study with major instructors in Chicago, Seattle, Michigan, and New York areas.
As a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician, Dr. Park appeared in numerous recital and concert halls based in South Korea, Seattle, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, and New York. Regina won a Special Recognition Prize at Seattle Young Artist Music Festival. Also was a selected winner at the National High School Music Institute held in Northwestern University, performing Zigeunerweisen by Sarasate. She spent a few summers at Meadowmount School of Music, studying with Gerardo Ribeiro and Ann Setzer, where her chamber group performed as one of the selected winners as well. She collaborated in chamber concerts with Emerson String Quartet and Stony Brook colleagues, and also appeared as a soloist at A Night featuring Baroque Concerti with BAILU ART Chamber Ensemble.
Dr. Park earned a Diploma in Seattle Conservatory of Music in addition to graduating Interlochen Arts Academy as a scholarship student where she received a Fine Arts Award in Music: Violin. As a scholarship student, she completed both Bachelor and Master’s degree in Violin Performance from Eastman School of Music studying with Oleh Krysa. Continuing with her study, she completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Violin Performance at Stony Brook University in 2016, under the instruction of Hagai Shaham. Her other major instructor and chamber coaches include Jennifer Frautschi, Philip Setzer, Cyrus Forough, Hal Grossman, Ron Patterson, Emerson String Quartet, Ying Quartet, and she played in master classes for David Updegraff and Charles Castleman.
Since completing her Doctor’s degree, Dr. Park has been teaching at various music schools, working as a private teacher and active musician in the New York and New Jersey area. Her students have received highest points in NYSSMA, got accepted to All-State Audition and Pre-college pre-screen, and also got offered scholarships from colleges for specialties in violin.
