Korean American flutist Steven Kim has performed all around the continents, from the United States to Europe and his native Korea. Having returned from Berlin, Germany where he served as a Konzertexamen fellow at Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik. During his residency, he was named Acting Principal Flutist with Nürnberg Staatphiharmonie. As an equally established soloist, Mr. Kim was awarded top prizes in national and international competitions; First Prize Winner at New York Flute Club Young Artist Competition in 2006, Bohuslav Martinů Prize at the 61st Prague Spring International Competition, Third Prize Winner at the 38th National Flute Association Young Artist Competition, William H. Grass Memorial Prize Winner of James 27th Pappoustsakis Flute Competition among many others.

Mr. Kim, as a profound advocate for arts, performed the Mozart Flute Quartets with musicians from the Marlboro Festival at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum as a part of a multi-week collaboration-project between Paula Robison and the conceptual artist Sol LeWitt in part of Mozart's inspiration on Art. Since his solo appearance debut at Carnegie Hall with the Interschool Orchestra of New York, Mr. Kim has given solo performances with numerous ensembles including the New Jersey Philharmonic Orchestra, Livingston Symphony Orchestra, William Paterson University Symphony and Haffner Sinfonietta.

Mr. Kim received his Bachelor's and MasterÕs degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music studying with Paula Robison and Post-Graduate Diploma from the Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik.  In addition to his musical career, Mr. Kim received Associate Degree of Science in Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  Currently, Mr. Kim is a flute faculty member and a flute ensemble director at New York Music School, Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division Camp and JCC Thurnauer School of Music.
